The events of this past week have been mind boggling. We have seen things that many have never seen before. From college and professional sports canceling and suspending their tournaments and seasons, major entertainment centers temporarily closing their doors, schools and colleges dismissing classes, to government on local, state, and federal levels ordering conventions and meetings with participants of 250 or more to cancel we have stepped into uncharted waters as a nation and the world. Fear is sweeping across our country and people are causing a shortage of hand sanitizer, cleaning products, toilet paper, and bottled water. McKenzie and I went to our local Wal Mart and saw the shelves emptied of items that are usually stocked in abundance. People gripped by fear.

I do not make light of the present situation concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19) sweeping the globe. However the reaction has been a little over the top. When fear sets in men lose all sense of reason. In the face of the present circumstances the Church must seek wisdom and understanding in how best to respond to the concerns around us. Proverbs 3:13 states, “13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” While all around us may be losing their minds, it is imperative as Christians that we keep ours.

The world is looking for a stabilizing factor amidst this chaos. We have the opportunity show the world the reality of Proverbs 13:23-26:

23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way

safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

24 When thou liest down, thou shalt

not be afraid:yea, thou shalt lie

down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of

the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence,

and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

God is our refuge, our strength, our peace, and our hope. In perilous times Truth triumphs over fear.
