Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

This past week we have witnessed unprecedented events take place in our world. While we do not take lightly the Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19, we understand that we can not be gripped by fear. The current state of the world is mass hysteria, confusion, and despair. While our local, state, and national governments are trying to make sense of what is happening and how to react it is incumbent upon the church to do what it knows how to do best. PRAY!

For this reason I am calling us to a time of prayer and fasting for the current condition of our world. Let us not become caught up in the chaos that would seem to sweeping the globe, but instead humble ourselves, fall on our knees and pray for God to bring peace, wisdom, and understanding to our President, Vice-President, Senators, Representatives, State and Municipal leadership. While all around may be losing their head, we will not lose ours. While the world reacts, we will respond. We will pray!

We are choosing to respond in this manner:

  1. The Church will be open from 10am-4pm daily Monday through Friday for you to come and go for prayer. This is not only for us but having spoken to many in the community they are looking for a placed to pray as well. We are inviting them to join as well.

  2. We will not have our regularly scheduled Bible Study on Wednesday. All who feel comfortable are asked to join us from 7pm-8pm at the church for prayer. It is come and go. It is open to all

  3. I will be present at the church during these hours unless my presence, due to emergency, is absolutely required somewhere else.

This is an opportunity for the church to be a beacon of hope and stability in this troubling time. Paul continues in Philippians 4:7-8 with these words, “7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Let us show our family, friends, and neighbors that there is a place to find peace, comfort, hope, and healing. Let’s not get caught up in the media driven hysterics and political gamesmanship. God is and will always remain in control. Pray for His protection, prepare for His return, and project His perfect love and peace to those around us.
